This year I was able to spend my Thanksgiving week in Punta Gorda, Belize. There, I met twenty-eight of the most beautiful children ages 2 – 16. Most of them are called Walk-Abouts because they have no supervision at home. Our team of twelve were able to spend time with them, love them, and provide some children’s ministry. This portrait is of Michael, one of the quiet ones who love drumming and have the most beautiful eyes.

I was also able to do some quick three minute portraits for the kids to keep.

Seasons Come and Seasons Go

A new flyer for our band Homespun Royale. Since summer is over and fall is arriving, I wanted to convey that seasonal change. The lamp is a homage to the Narnia-like atmosphere of our September venue (they actually have a lamppost in their backyard).

When I was a little girl, I came across two violins from the days when my father was a young man. I’ve always wished he would play them again and teach me how to make the strings sing in a bright, sparkling, and lively way.

I’ve always loved the sound of the cello but am too undisciplined to learn to play it. (That’s why I picked up the electric bass.) The cello’s full and sonorous tones reminds me of the ocean.

Abominable Ice Cream Boy

Ice cream cones and popsicles are such a treat on a hot day, even the abominable snowboy is loving them. My sister-in-law suggested that I have him biting off the heads of popsicle-shaped children. As much as I would like to, we need to keep it
G-rated as this will be used to promote our family friendly music concert.

This Little Piggy Went the the Fair

As a second entry for the Alameda County Fair, I created a portrait of my sister and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Since my little niece loves to hug animals, I included an Alaskan racing pig because the little oinkers are so darn cute. Not only that, he is my painting’s ticket for eligibility for the fair. The white camellias represent perfected loveliness, which speaks for all three figures.
